1.(Paul) Based on where you and your team think you (collectively) fall on the LoTi Framework, (levels 0-6; see table below), what strategies could you use to move to a higher level of implementation? Results show that Team MVP is at LoTi Level 2: Exploration!
read about the next level(s); use the LoTi Lounge materials
find and videotape examples in real-time classrooms or online to observe higher levels in action
consider existing lesson plans and discuss what it would look like at Level 3: Infusion
compare and contrast Level 2 and Level 3 at a staff meeting; set goals
pair up with mentors who fall on higher levels
2. (Andrea) How would you use the LoTi Framework to identify staff professional development needs to improve technology use?
If the entire staff takes the LoTi Digital Age Survey, the professional development can be differentiated according to each teacher's level of authentic classroom technology use.
Create a short-term action research investigation customized to an individual’s instructional needs and grade level. The emphasis is placed on collaboration, applied learning, and the creation of professional learning communities.
Provide targeted professional development onsite, blended, and online interventions addressing:differentiated instruction, collaborative learning environments, inquiry-based instruction, and problem-based learning.
You may want to take a look at Scott McLeod's 3-minute survey (closes Nov. 19) on why aren’t schools making more progress when it comes to effective implementation and integration of digital technologies? Follow the link to take the survey and/or read the results. Interestingly enough, administrators are the top reason and that was my #1 as well. I don't know how it can help us with the questions this week, but it does provide food for though! If you do not currently follow his blog, Dangerously Irrelevant,I highly recommend that you put it on your watch list. He really makes you think!
I realize that my three resources are not directly discussing the LoTi Framework, but I think you can apply the LoTi framework to them. Bottom line is that the variety of resources that I found talk about differentiating the PD, using highly effective teachers (could be the 3s & 4s on LoTi?) as models or to provide support for teachers in need of development, and assessing the effectiveness of administrators in integrating technology in their schools....
3. (Paul) How will you differentiate your professional development to help teachers move to higher levels of technology implementation?
specify intended audience in course descriptions
if the group of teachers is mixed, differentiate within the session
make it accessible enough for the low-end users but challenging and engaging enough for the high-end; something for everyone
be careful to not rely too heavily on the early adopters as trainers of the novices; provide them with something more to keep them interested, engaged, and challenged
4. (Missy) How can you ensure that faculty and staff take advantage of quality professional development opportunities to improve learning and teaching with technology?
ensure ownership by creating teacher leadership teams that facilitate and deliver quality professional development that is relevant to the school/district vision or improvement plan.
Differentiate professional development so that teachers can chose the activity that is right for them based on individual need in the classroom/whole-school environment.
Support teachers with resources needed to complete activities such as book club, action research, walkthroughs, etc.
Create job-embedded professional development time
Encourage feedback and reflection/room for growth

LoTi Level 2 - Exploration
At a Level 2 (Exploration) the instructional focus:
emphasizes content understanding
supports mastery learning
supports direct instruction.
Teacher questioning and/or student learning focuses on lower levels of student cognitive processing (e.g., knowledge, comprehension) using the available digital assets.
Digital tools and resources are used by students for:
extension activities,
enrichment exercises,
information gathering assignments
that generally reinforce lower cognitive skill development relating to the content under investigation.
There is a pervasive use of student multimedia products, allowing students to present their content understanding in a digital format that may or may not reach beyond the classroom.
